Ingredients: walnuts, sugar, water, cooked sesame seeds.
Steps: Boil the water in a saucepan. Blanch the walnuts for about a minute to remove the bitterness, then drain.
In a separate saucepan, add the sugar and water in a 1:1 ratio and simmer over a low heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar water is thick and bubbles form.
Add the walnuts and cook, stirring quickly to coat the walnuts with the syrup.
Continue stirring until the syrup begins to crystallise and turn white, then remove from heat.
Using the remaining heat, stir-fry the walnuts until the glaze is crisp.
Remove the walnuts, sprinkle with the cooked sesame seeds and leave to cool before serving. The sweet and crunchy texture and amber icing around the whole walnuts is both delicious and nutritious. You can store them in an airtight jar and enjoy them anytime.
